Com mais de 10 anos de existência, a Fundação Júlio Resende continua a expôr e divulgar as obras do seu mestre num lugar que já acolheu mais de 90 mil visitantes. O Lugar do Desenho, em Valbom, recebe pessoas de todo o país e expõe as obras do já falecido pintor e de vários outros autores, incluindo de jovens artistas. Apesar do sucesso, a crise também bateu à porta deste lugar que anseia por melhores dias.
O mês de novembro de 1993 marcou o início de uma etapa para o pintor Júlio Resende. Apesar do seu falecimento oito anos depois, o trabalho do “mestre” é apreciado por milhares de pessoas anualmente.
A inauguração das instalações do Lugar do Desenho, em Valbom, foram a 23 de outubro de 1997, motivada pela doação de centenas de obras do pintor e pelo seu “crédito na Educação pela Arte”. O edifício sede compreende áreas de exposição, um auditório, oficinas, biblioteca, loja e um espaço de residência para artistas. Anualmente, é renovada a exposição do pintor, por altura do aniversário da Fundação. Para além das obras de Júlio Resende, o Lugar do Desenho possui exposições temporárias de outros autores e, desde 2012, acolhe também trabalhos de jovens artistas em início de carreira, numa sala criada para o efeito. Até agora, a Fundação Júlio Resende realizou um total de 184 exposições.
Fundação com “algumas dificuldades financeiras”
Atualmente, quem dirige o lugar é Guilherme Figueiredo. O presidente do Conselho de Administração esteve à conversa com o Vivacidade e não escondeu os dias menos bons em que vive a fundação, no que respeita às despesas que a mesma possui diariamente. “A Fundação encontra-se a trabalhar com muitos projetos e um potencial enormíssimo, nomeadamente para a área do concelho, mas encontra-se simultaneamente com algumas dificuldades financeiras porque é uma fundação não patrocinada pelo Estado, não tem subsídios, vive com as suas próprias receitas – através dos mecenas e dos Amigos da Fundação”, explica.
Guilherme Figueiredo, faz notar que as despesas da fundação “têm como principal objetivo proporcionar ao público em geral, nacional, o acompanhamento daquilo que se faz hoje do ponto de vista da pintura e da cultura” e que as obras de arte expostas “não são para venda” e que, logo, o Lugar não é “produtor de receitas”.
