A União das Freguesias de Fânzeres e S. Pedro da Cova quer uma “rápida e urgente remoção dos resíduos” perigosos depositados nas minas abandonadas de S. Pedro e que “sejam prestadas informações à população sobre as análises prometidas à qualidade da água na região”. O presidente da União, Daniel Vieira, enviou um comunicado às redações em que considera que “não existem mais razões para adiar e atrasar o processo de remoção”.
Depois do Tribunal Administrativo e Fiscal de Braga indeferir a providência cautelar, solicitada pela empresa Semural Waste&Energy relativa ao concurso lançado pela Comissão de Coordenação e Desenvolvimento Regional do Norte para a remoção das 88 mil toneladas de resíduos perigosos depositados nas minas abandonadas, já “não existem obstáculos à sua remoção”. O Ministério do Ambiente, Ordenamento do Território e Energia (MAOTE) entende já ter condições para celebrar o contrato com a Ecodeal [empresa que o júri elegeu como vencedora do concurso] e dar andamento ao processo.
Ao Vivacidade, Daniel Vieira afirma que “a permanência dos resíduos perigosos pode ter graves consequências para o ambiente, a saúde pública das populações, a contaminação dos lençóis freáticos e cursos de água”. Por esse facto, dirigiu-se no dia 14 de janeiro à Assembleia da República para questionar os grupos parlamentares e “exigir que os grupos interviessem junto do Ministério do Ambiente no sentido de questioná-lo as contradições do processo”.
Sobre a data limite, anunciadas pelo Ministério [dezembro de 2015], o presidente da União de Fânzeres e S. Pedro da Cova remata que é a data para “terminar este processo” mas pensa “que não se deve esperar por esse prazo. É um processo que exige urgência.” No entanto, em jeito de conclusão, Daniel Vieira comenta: “Não era necessário termos que ir à Assembleia da República para haver uma intervenção dos grupos parlamentares”.
