A 28 de março as estações de tratamento de águas residuais, a poluição dos rios, a limpeza urbana e as florestas estiveram em debate na Assembleia Municipal Extraordinária de Gondomar. Representantes da Águas de Gondomar, Rede Ambiente e do Movimento em Defesa do Rio Tinto participaram na discussão.
A Assembleia Municipal de Gondomar reuniu-se extraordinariamente no dia 28 de março, para debater os problemas ambientais do concelho, na Biblioteca Municipal de Gondomar. Munícipes, deputados municipais, representantes das empresas Águas de Gondomar (AdG) e Rede Ambiente, do Movimento em Defesa do Rio Tinto (MDRT) e do executivo municipal, compareceram à assembleia e discutiram, entre outros assuntos, o problema das descargas diretas para o rio Tinto provocados pela Estação de Tratamento de Águas Residuais (ETAR) do Meiral, as intervenções da AdG nas ruas de Gondomar e a eficiência da recolha de lixo efetuada pela Rede Ambiente.
“A ETAR do Meiral é problemática mas cumpriu sempre com os limites legais. É uma ETAR do melhor que há por aí”, garantiu Jaime Martins, diretor-geral da AdG. Em resposta, Paulo Silva, porta-voz do MDRT, questionou a legalidade da ETAR. “Pode ser legal, mas na verdade o rio está a ser assassinado. A única fonte de poluição é a ETAR do Meiral porque nota-se a diferença do rio Tinto, antes e depois da ETAR”, disse.
Paulo Renato Reis, administrador da Rede Ambiente, empresa responsável pela recolha de lixo em Gondomar, salientou a qualidade do serviço prestado ao concelho. “Temos excelentes colaboradores em Gondomar, mas queremos tornar o concelho uma referência ao nível da reciclagem”, afirmou.
Seguiu-se um período de intervenções, pautado por críticas às empresas representadas na Assembleia Municipal. Autarcas e deputados municipais lamentaram vários descuidos ambientais nas freguesias de Gondomar e apontaram soluções para resolver estes problemas.
As florestas e a limpeza urbana foram algumas das situações referidas.
