O Multiusos de Gondomar foi, durante três dias, palco para um dois maiores eventos de voleibol ocorridos do concelho. De 4 a 7 de setembro, Miguel Maia e João Brenha, dois dos melhores voleibolistas portugueses de sempre, dinamizaram e deram nome ao AMB Volleyball Cup, pela primeira vez em Gondomar. O evento reuniu cerca de 500 atletas nacionais e estrangeiros num torneio que serviu de estágio para o início da época desportiva.
A Escola EB 2,3 de Gondomar serviu de local de acolhimento para os cerca de 500 atletas que participaram no AMB Volleyball Cup 2014, no concelho. Miguel Maia e João Brenha viram no concelho um “local aprazível” para a continuação daquele que já é um dos maiores torneios de voleibol português e que começa a ser conhecido mundialmente, em Espinho.
Porto Volei venceu o torneio
No final do quarto dia, o “estágio” terminava e sabiam-se os vencedores. Porto Volei venceu o torneio, no escalão de seniores femininos e o Leixões S. C. veio logo a seguir, alcançando o segundo lugar. A Ala de Gondomar obteve a última classificação nesta categoria – quarto lugar -, com o Boavista F. C. na posição acima.
De resto ainda no vólei feminino, a vitória para Porto Volei calhou também aos juniores mas a equipa espanhola de Cuenca venceu no escalão de juvenis. Nos cadetes o Colégio Calvão levou o primeiro lugar e o Leixões S. C. venceu os iniciados femininos.
Nos juniores masculinos o Leixões também levou a melhor classificação, mas nos iniciados foi o Esmoriz Ginásio Clube que se sobressaiu. A Académica de Espinho garantia a vitória apenas para os infantis masculinos.
Modalidade “tem tradição no concelho”, refere Sandra Brandão
“Cumprimos o objetivo que era, sem dúvida, dinamizar o desporto e a prática da modalidade que tem tradição no concelho, tendo como referência a Ala N´Álvares que também participou com nove equipas”, explica ao Vivacidade, a vereadora do Desporto da Câmara Municipal de Gondomar (CMG), Sandra Brandão. “Foi um evento diferente, na medida em que cerca de 500 atletas nacionais e internacionais, permaneceram em Gondomar durante quatro dias consecutivos. Para além do convívio e partilha de experiências entre as equipas, demos a conhecer o concelho de Gondomar, tentando cumprir desta forma um dos objetivos que é a afirmação desportiva a nível nacional e internacional”, acrescentou ainda a autarca.
Torneio poderá continuar para o ano, se organização assim o quiser
“A continuidade do evento dependerá sempre dos moldes em que nos for proposto”, esclarece a vereadora da CMG. “Dado que não foi uma organização do município, mas sim da AMB Vólei, que nos escolheu para a realização de um evento que tem já tradição em Espinho. Desta forma Gondomar acolheu o torneio e deu o seu apoio com a cedência do espaço e alojamento dos atletas”, explica Sandra Brandão.
