Quatro amigos gondomarenses juntaram-se e começaram a tocar juntos por brincadeira até ao dia em que decidiram tornar a ideia num “projeto sério”. A fusão de estilos musicais e um baixo partido deram origem aos “Baixo Soldado”, grupo formado por Luís Leitão, vocalista e guitarrista, António Correia, teclista e harmonicista, Tiago Fonseca, baixista, e Luís Dinis, baterista.
Como é que surgiu a ideia de fundar uma banda? Já se conheciam?
Luís Dinis (LD) – Nós éramos todos amigos e surgiu a ideia de começarmos a dar uns toques juntos. Só depois é que decidimos tornar a ideia num projeto sério.
Quando é que formaram a banda?
Tiago Fonseca (TF) – Em janeiro deste ano, é um projeto recente.
Porquê o nome “Baixo Soldado”?
Luís Leitão (LL) – Nós tocávamos com um baixo que estava a funcionar e que entretanto deixou de funcionar porque alguém o estragou [risos].
LD – O baixo era meu mas eu emprestei-o e alguém estragou…
TF – Eu estava a tocar e no dia seguinte o baixo já estava estragado.
LL – Não ficou estragado, só queria descansar [risos]. Foi aí que o Luís trouxe a solda, abriu o baixo, soldou os cabos e o instrumento voltou a funcionar. Foi assim que surgiu a ideia de dar o nome “Baixo Soldado”. Ao contrário do que se pensa não tem a ver com a tropa.
Foi unânime a decisão?
LD – Acabou por ser. Andávamos a pensar noutras alternativas mas acabou por ficar este nome.
É a primeira banda que vocês tocam ou já alguém tinha estado num grupo?
LL – Eu já tinha estado em dois projetos.
LD – Eu estive nuns grupos, mas nunca levei demasiado a sério. Este é o primeiro.
Desde janeiro como tem sido o percurso da banda?
TF – Primeiro começamos com um concerto muito simples na Escola Artística Soares dos Reis, mas já fomos à Póvoa de Varzim e atuamos no Festival de Música Moderna de Gondomar.
LD – Ficamos desde início como banda suplente porque surgiram uns atrasos nas inscrições e após a desistência de uma banda, acabamos por subir ao palco sem sequer aparecer o nosso nome no cartaz.
Foi uma surpresa agradável?
LD – Foi porque não estávamos à espera de ter a oportunidade de tocar na nossa terra.
TF – Eu lembro-me de vir aqui ver imensos concertos.
LL – Todos os anos vínhamos aqui todos juntos ver o Festival de Música Moderna e nunca tínhamos pensado em tocar aqui.
