Por altura da 1ª Feira Internacional de Segurança e Proteção, em Gondomar, o Vivacidade quis saber se o concelho é seguro. O Comandante Operacional Municipal, na área do socorro, Artur Teixeira, também Comandante da Polícia Municipal, respondeu afirmativamente à questão garantindo que “Gondomar é um concelho seguro apesar de haver sempre margem para evoluir”. O profissional garante mesmo que o concelho dispõe dos “melhores bombeiros do mundo”.

De um modo geral, as pessoas questionam muito sobre quais as competências da Polícia Municipal. Quais são as principais áreas em que a Polícia Municipal pode intervir?
Há áreas que são da exclusiva responsabilidade da PSP, e em alguns casos a Polícia Municipal atua em conformidade com a PSP. Por exemplo, a Polícia Municipal não tem por obrigação fazer a segurança de um evento desportivo, essa competência é da PSP, mas nós atuamos em conformidade e auxiliamos sempre que é necessário. As nossas competências são da área administrativa das comunicações, na segurança de edifícios municipais e na área rodoviária. Estamos aptos a intervir na segurança rodoviária, caso seja necessário. Em Gondomar a cooperação é excelente e nós informamos sempre as forças de segurança da nossa presença.

Sempre que atuamos sabemos bem a nossa competência. Se chegarmos ao local e encontramos um crime, sabemos que não é da nossa competência. Em casos de flagrante delito estamos autorizados a intervir.
