O Rotary Club de Gondomar tem, desde ontem à noite, um novo presidente. António Araújo Ramos assume, pela terceira vez, o cargo de dirigente do clube, substituindo Nuno Cruz. A cerimónia da tomada de posse teve lugar em Gramido, Valbom.
“Manifesto aqui e agora a inteira disponibilidade e o total empenhamento para que, em conjunto, possamos alcançar os objetivos e as metas a que nos propomos”, começou por referir o novo presidente do Rotary Club de Gondomar, António Araújo Ramos, no início do seu discurso da tomada de posse. “Não deixarei de vos transmitir que o Rotary pretende a melhoria da nossa comunidade, dando apoio a quem mais carece de ajuda, a integração de mais gente jovem no nosso ideal de servir e a gratificação de agir de acordo com o lema intemporal do Rotary Internacional: Dar de si antes de pensar em si”, continuou o atual dirigente do clube.
Os rotários de Gondomar reuniram-se num restaurante da zona do Polis, em Gramido [onde atualmente decorrem as reuniões mensais] e participaram na cerimónia de tomada de posse de António Araújo Ramos. Na vice-presidência do clube ficou Mário Marques Moreira e João Abreu Costa ficou como secretário. Fernando Martins Ferreira assumiu a tesouraria e Ernesto Silva é o novo diretor de protocolo. Fátima Lamas é a presidente eleita para o ano rotário 2016/2017.
O Rotary é um dos primeiros clubes de serviço à comunidade, criado em 1905 por Paul Harris, e conta com mais de 18 mil clubes em todo o mundo. Os principais objetivos dos rotários são o desenvolvimento do companheirismo, a prática de elevados padrões de ética nos negócios e profissões, a prática desses ideias na vida pessoal, profissional e comunitária e a promoção da compreensão internacional e da boa vontade.
Em Gondomar, o clube tem apoiado algumas instituições destacando a Associação de Apoio ao Deficiente Nuno Silveira, uma IPSS de Fânzeres.
