A Piscina Municipal de Rio Tinto celebrou, a 1 de julho, 20 anos de existência. O equipamento com 3500 utilizadores diários poderá agora ser alvo de algumas melhorias no seu interior.
José Silva, responsável pelo equipamento desde a sua abertura, traçou ao Vivacidade um balanço positivo e garantiu que as piscinas sempre prestaram um serviço de qualidade à população. “Os utilizadores que temos reconhecem essa prestação de serviços. Temos cerca de 3500 utilizadores em média, dos quais 1800 estão em aulas aqui”, indicou.
A direção da piscina organizou uma pequena cerimónia e várias atividades lúdicas para não deixar passar a data. A autarquia também foi convidada para um bolo de aniversário.
“O próximo passo é uma reestruturação no edifício”, esclareceu José Silva. “Não conseguimos mexer nos tanques porque estão fechados a toda a volta. No edifício estamos a prever fazer obras assim que haja disponibilidade financeira da autarquia. Os tempos não são fáceis e não podemos pedir o impossível. Também temos um projeto que passa por remodelar o edifício”, acrescentou.
Da parte do Município, Luís Lobo, adjunto da vereadora do Desporto esteve presente na cerimónia e acredita que no próximo ano as obras possam começar. “Estava previsto começar este ano, mas tendo em conta os constrangimentos financeiros que surgiram, em princípio, no próximo ano vamos reformular a piscina. Já é necessário porque o equipamento está a ficar velho e é necessária uma reorganização do espaço. Temos dois ginásios mas não estão preparados para a afluência que esta piscina tem. Não há oferta suficiente para a procura que existe. Esta é a mais antiga por isso vai ser reformulada. Há mais seis piscinas no concelho, para além desta”, indicou.
“Esta foi a primeira piscina construída em Gondomar e é a que tem mais alunos em todo o concelho”, lembrou Luís Lobo.
