O Clube Ornitológico de Gondomar arrecadou 82 medalhas na última edição do Campeonato do Mundo de Ornitologia. Ao Vivacidade, Amílcar Dias, vice-presidente do Clube, explica o segredo para o sucesso.
Prestes a comemorar as bodas de prata, o Clube Ornitológico de Gondomar é já uma referência nacional e internacional na modalidade. No 64.º Campeonato do Mundo, realizado entre os dias 21 e 24 de janeiro, em Matosinhos, a associação conquistou 82 medalhas (25 de ouro, 26 de prata e 31 de bronze) distribuídas por 25 criadores nas diversas categorias em competição: canários de cor, canários de porte, exóticos e psitacídeos.
Amílcar Dias, vice-presidente do Clube, atribui o sucesso à “magnífica equipa que trabalha na coletividade há oito anos”. “A nossa equipa tem desenvolvido a ornitologia em Gondomar e no país. Desde 1991, o Clube lutava pelo desenvolvimento da ornitologia no concelho de Gondomar mas, em 2008, esta direção resolveu dar novo ímpeto às atividades desenvolvidas, nomeadamente à exposição anual que realizamos [Ornishow]”, explica ao Vivacidade.
O evento mudou-se para o Multiusos de Gondomar e ganhou dimensão com a passagem de 600 para 4000 aves expostas. “Temos a convicção que ainda podemos crescer mais”, refere Amílcar Dias após lamentar a mudança do local da exposição para o Pavilhão Municipal de Covelo, em 2015. “No ano passado não realizamos a exposição no Multiusos de Gondomar e isso trouxe uma redução no número de aves expostas. Sabemos que a autarquia tem dificuldades em ceder-nos um pavilhão mas as melhores alternativas seriam Fânzeres, São Pedro da Cova, Valbom ou Jovim, na impossibilidade de regressar ao Multiusos. No entanto, é essencial afastarmo-nos do rio”, admite Amílcar Dias.
O Clube Ornitológico de Gondomar é o maior clube ornitológico do país e tem 400 sócios criadores de aves.
