Fundado em 2001, o Gabinete do Apoio ao Aluno e à Família (GAAF) da Escola Básica de Santa Bárbara, Fânzeres, conta já com 60 alunos voluntários envolvidos no projeto, orientados por 10 professores da escola.
Em 2001, surgia na Escola Básica de Santa Bárbara o GAAF, um projeto dedicado à integração de alunos problemáticos, com carências económicas e dificuldades académicas. Mais tarde, em 2006, o conceito do grupo foi reformulado. Hoje são mais de 60 alunos, do 7.º ao 9.º ano de escolaridade, integrados no GAAF. “É um gabinete onde os professores tutores, 10 no total, acompanham os alunos em regime de tutoria. Os alunos vêm para aqui encaminhados pelos diretores de turma e todos os anos há cada vez mais alunos a querer participar neste projeto”, explica Eduarda Pontífice, fundadora e coordenadora do grupo.
Durante o ano letivo, o GAAF desenvolve diversas iniciativas solidárias com impacto na freguesia. “A entrega de cabazes de Natal aos mais carenciados foi a nossa primeira iniciativa. Apercebemo-nos também que alguns alunos vinham com fome para as aulas e não tinham roupa. Começamos a juntar algumas roupas e hoje temos um roupeiro ao dispor da Escola. São os alunos, professores e educadores que contribuem para esse espaço”, afirma a mentora do GAAF.
Este ano, o projeto está a trabalhar o tema “Conviver com a diferença” e conta com várias atividades de apoio concretizadas e vocacionadas para os 86 alunos com necessidades educativas especiais da EB Santa Bárbara”, conclui a responsável.
O GAAF integra anualmente o projeto “Escolas Solidárias” da Fundação EDP.
