O Estado, a Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos do Porto (STCP) e os Municípios de Gondomar, Maia, Matosinhos, Porto, Valongo e Vila Nova de Gaia aprovaram, a 25 de junho, o novo modelo de gestão para a STCP.
Está garantida a sustentabilidade da STCP. O compromisso foi dado no Museu do Carro Elétrico, no Porto, pelo Ministro do Ambiente, João Matos Fernandes, que considerou a decisão tomada pelo Estado, STCP e municípios “uma transformação decisiva”. O memorando de entendimento estabeleceu um novo modelo de gestão da STCP.
“Ao assumir o financiamento de uma obrigação de serviço público originada por serviços que serão sempre deficitários, dão condições para que a empresa seja pela primeira vez sustentável. Não com EBITDA [resultados antes de impostos, juros, amortizações e depreciações] zero, mas com EBITDA positivo desde o primeiro momento. Isso significa que a empresa fica em condições de operar de forma equilibrada, mas também de começar a suportar o investimento na renovação dos seus ativos que é essencialmente a sua frota”, afirmou Matos Fernandes.
O governante realçou que “se os municípios financiarem a rede que entendem adequada e possível para o serviço das suas populações, o Estado não abandonará nunca a sua política social e continuará a apoiar as pessoas com maior debilidade económica por vista dos tarifários sociais”. O aditamento ao contrato de serviço público ainda terá que ser assinado, para a entrada em vigor do modelo a 1 de janeiro do próximo ano
