Paulo Ferreira foi homenageado por mais de 3000 pessoas no dia 8 de outubro, na Sala D’Ouro do Multiusos de Gondomar. Durante o dia não faltaram iniciativas e dedicatórias ao ex-ciclista gondomarense.
O Multiusos de Gondomar foi palco de uma homenagem ao ex-ciclista Paulo Ferreira, que necessita de ajuda para prosseguir os tratamentos de uma doença grave.
A festa prolongou-se durante todo o dia e contou com a realização de uma caminhada, aula de cycling, passeio de bicicleta, mega-aula de zumba, concerto de Diana Basto e um espetáculo dos humoristas Zé Pedro e Fernando Rocha.
Caras conhecidas do desporto, do movimento associativo e da política, bem como amigos e conhecidos do ex-atleta não faltaram à chamada.
“Antes do evento já tinha sido surpreendido pelo elevado número de inscritos. Tivemos 2800 inscrições, mas julgo que terão passado mais de 3000 pessoas pelo Multiusos de Gondomar. A homenagem deixou-me muito feliz e deu-me muita força”, disse Paulo Ferreira, em entrevista ao nosso jornal.
Segundo o ex-ciclista, o contributo das inscrições vai reverter para apoiar as despesas do tratamento.
No evento de homenagem a Paulo Ferreira marcaram presença os atletas e ex-atletas Vanessa Fernandes, André Cardoso, Filipe Cardoso, Gustavo Veloso, Rui Vinhas, Venceslau Fernandes, Delmino Pereira, entre outros.
Município aprovou “Rotunda Ciclista Paulo Ferreira”
Na reunião pública descentralizada do dia 12 de outubro, a Câmara Municipal de Gondomar aprovou, por unanimidade, a atribuição da designação toponímica de “Rotunda Ciclista Paulo Ferreira” à rotunda sita na confluência da Rua dos Carregais e Rua Comendador Rui Nabeiro, em Gondomar (S. Cosme).
“Fiquei muito feliz por esta notícia. A atribuição de uma rotunda é melhor do que a atribuição de uma rua”, disse Paulo Ferreira ao nosso jornal.
Refira-se que o ex-atleta foi também oficialmente nomeado embaixador da Cidade Europeia do Desporto, estatuto que Gondomar ostentará em 2017.
