O Pavilhão Multiusos de Gondomar foi palco escolhido para ser palco das mais importantes competições que as seleções nacionais de seniores masculinos e femininos vão disputar em Portugal no próximo ano.
A Federação Portuguesa de Voleibol (FPV) escolheu o Pavilhão Multiusos de Gondomar para acolher as mais importantes competições que as seleções nacionais de seniores masculinos e femininos vão disputar no nosso país em 2019.
No dia 6 de janeiro, o pavilhão vai acolher o Portugal x Croácia, primeiro de dois jogos decisivos da Seleção Nacional de seniores masculinos na fase de apuramento para o Campeonato da Europa. Três dias depois, é a vez do Portugal x Geórgia, em seniores femininos.
Nos dias 14 a 16 de junho do próximo ano, o Multiusos de Gondomar vai acolher a participação da Seleção Nacional de seniores masculinos na prestigiada e exigente Liga das Nações de Voleibol 2019, ao receber as seleções do Brasil, Sérvia e China.
Refira-se que a Seleção Nacional de seniores masculinos vai disputar a Liga das Nações 2019, após ter conseguido vencer na final da Volleyball Challenger Cup 2018 a República Checa por 3-1.
A Liga das Nações é disputada por 16 seleções nacionais: 12 “fixas” que estão sempre qualificadas para a competição e quatro “desafiadoras” (em 2019, Portugal, Canadá, Bulgária e Austrália), sendo que a última classificada destas seleções desce à Golden League, sendo substituída pela vencedora da Challenger Cup, um torneio que qualifica o vencedor para a próxima edição da Liga das Nações como equipa “desafiadora”.
Inaugurado em 2007, o Multiusos acolheu, recentemente, a Final Four da Taça de Portugal – seniores masculinos 2017 e o Eurobol 2017 (com mais de 1200 atletas), em voleibol, entre outras competições de vulto de outras modalidades.
“A Cidade Europeia do Desporto trouxe-nos este tipo de reconhecimentos”
Ao Vivacidade, Sandra Almeida, vereadora do Desporto da Câmara de Gondomar, admite que a escolha do pavilhão gondomarense surge na sequência da distinção Gondomar – Cidade Europeia do Desporto (CED) 2017.
“A CED trouxe-nos este tipo de reconhecimentos. Temos um equipamento de excelência para todas as modalidades”, afirma a autarca.
A par destes eventos no voleibol, Sandra Almeida confirmou também o Campeonato Europeu de Ténis de Mesa sub-21 e a Taça de Portugal em futsal. “Está também a decorrer uma candidatura ao Europeu de Futsal Feminino”, garante a vereadora.
