A Câmara Municipal de Gondomar anunciou, no dia 6 de fevereiro, um investimento de 3,8 milhões de euros para a freguesia de Covelo. Esta aposta municipal inclui a reabilitação da EB 1 da Lixa, que irá acolher o posto da GNR de Medas.
A antiga escola da Lixa, em Covelo, vai ser a nova casa do posto territorial da GNR de Medas, atualmente localizado na freguesia de São Cosme, território que está fora da jurisdição desta força de segurança.
Após vários anos de polémica e contestação da população, a Câmara de Gondomar anunciou, este mês, que vai reabilitar a EB 1 da Lixa que irá acolher o posto da GNR.
“É uma ânsia da população há muitos anos. Tivemos de escolher um local para reinstalar a GNR e esta foi a melhor solução para todos”, afirmou Marco Martins, edil gondomarense.
Sobre a GNR, em causa está um investimento que ronda os 800 mil euros, verba que a Câmara vai assumir “com a expectativa de que o Governo venha a comparticipar a obra”. “De qualquer das maneiras, a Câmara avança e já decidiu que vai fazer o investimento. É para começar em 2019 e no verão de 2020 estar a funcionar”, garantiu o autarca.
A medida integra um pacote de investimento municipal, anunciado pelo autarca na reunião pública da Câmara Municipal. Do conjunto de investimentos destacam-se as intervenções na Rua Santa Isabel, Rua 29 de Julho, Rua das Flores e Rua de Favais, a beneficiação da rotunda de acesso ao novo cais fluvial e a construção do renovado Cais da Lixa, que permitirá a atracagem de barcos-hotel.
No total, o investimento do Município corresponderá a 3,8 milhões de euros, valor inédito na freguesia de Covelo.
“A Câmara tem feito bons investimentos no Alto Concelho”
Isidro Sousa, presidente da União das Freguesias de Foz do Sousa e Covelo, mostra-se satisfeito com o investimento anunciado pela Câmara de Gondomar. Até 2020, o autarca irá beneficiar da requalificação de quatro arruamentos e do novo Cais da Lixa, em Covelo.
“Recebi esta notícia com muito agrado e creio que a Câmara tem feito bons investimentos no Alto Concelho”, começa por afirmar.
“A rotunda será uma mais-valia para a marginal e vai tornar o trânsito mais fluído. Também é previsível que aumente o fluxo rodoviário, sobretudo tendo em conta a aposta que está a ser feita no novo cais. Aquela zona já é bastante apelativa, mas vai valorizar-se ainda mais”, acrescenta o autarca.
No que diz respeito à transferência da GNR de São Cosme para a Lixa, Isidro Sousa também vê com bons olhos esta mudança que irá, de acordo com o presidente da Junta, “proporcionar mais segurança” aos habitantes deste território.
