A Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vera Cruz Gondomar organizou, no dia 5 de abril, o 3.º Torneio Seniores sem Fronteiras, na Sala D’Ouro do Multiusos de Gondomar. A iniciativa contou com cerca de 300 idosos de IPSS’s do concelho e de Misericórdias do distrito do Porto.
À semelhança de anos anteriores, a Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Gondomar voltou a comemorar o Dia Mundial da Atividade Física (6 de abril) e o Dia Mundial da Saúde (7 de abril) através da 3ª edição da iniciativa Seniores sem Fronteiras.
O evento desenvolve-se em formato de competição, inspirado no antigo programa de televisão “Jogos sem Fronteiras”, com vários jogos adaptados às pessoas idosas e visa promover o envelhecimento ativo e proporcionar momentos de convívio e de intercâmbio institucional.
“O objetivo é envolver várias instituições no sentido de proporcionar uma tarde diferente onde o convívio e exercício físico são elementos centrais para nossos idosos, que normalmente estão mais afastados destas atividades”, afirma Paula Mendes, diretora da Santa Casa da Misericórdia Vera Cruz de Gondomar.
Por sua vez, António Moutinho, vice-provedor desta instituição, considera o torneio “uma excelente oportunidade de convívio entre instituições que acolhem milhares de utentes”. “É um evento importante porque demonstra uma abertura da Santa Casa à comunidade, apesar desta ter diversas iniciativas”, refere o responsável.
Nesta edição, marcaram presença no Multiusos de Gondomar o Centro Social e Paroquial São João da Foz do Sousa, a Associação Estrelas de Silveirinhos, a Associação Social Recreativa Cultural e Bem Fazer “Vai Avante”, o Centro Social da Paróquia de Rio Tinto, o Centro Social de Soutelo, o Centro Social da Lomba, o Movimento Sénior de Fânzeres e São Pedro da Cova, a Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Valongo, a ERPI Pereira de Lima da Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto e o Equipamento Social António Almeida Costa da Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vila Nova de Gaia.
