Segundo dados do Posto de Controlo e Registo de Pescado de Valbom demonstram que desde o dia 16 de janeiro até ao dia 18 de março de 2020, em 37 dias de atividade, foram pescadas 1913 lampreias o que demonstra um aumento de 23.1%, quando comparado ao ano transato.
Estes números demonstravam que seria uma temporada de ouro para a pesca da lampreia em Gondomar. Das pescas realizadas até 18 de março o valor das vendas eram superior a 41 mil euros, um aumento de 22,7%. No entanto, com a pandemia, o setor de atividade foi suspenso o que obrigou a interrupção desta temporada que aparentava que iria ser positiva.
Para o ano de 2021, devido à pandemia que Gondomar enfrenta que originou no decréscimo da atividade da restauração, a época de pesca do sável e da Lampreia não teve início. ▪
