LIPOR galardoada com Green Flag Award e Special Award for Innovation

No ano em que a LIPOR, Serviço intermunicipalizado de Gestão de Resíduos Urbanos do Grande Porto, comemora 39 anos de atividade, a empresa é galardoada com o Green Flag Award e o Special Award for Innovation num ano em que os parques europeus comemoram um número recorde de vencedores.

O Parque Aventura & Trilho Ecológico da LIPOR é galardoado com o Green Flag Award no seu primeiro ano de candidatura, para além de ser reconhecido com o Special Award for Innovation pelo seu trabalho inovador em matéria de resíduos, reciclagem e ambiente.

The Green Flag Award® é um programa de acreditação internacional sem fins lucrativos que reconhece e galardoa parques e espaços verdes bem administrados, desde 1996, sendo gerido internacionalmente pela Keep Britain Tidy e uma rede de parceiros que oferecem o programa nacionalmente.

Um número recorde de parques públicos, jardins e espaços verdes em toda a Europa foi galardoado com o prestigiado Green Flag Award. Vinte nove (29) vencedores de oito países são anunciados hoje, incluindo: Bélgica, França, Alemanha, Holanda, Espanha, Portugal, Suécia e Turquia.

Este Prémio reconhece a estratégia pioneira da LIPOR que remonta já à década de 90, de transformação do espaço do antigo aterro sanitário num Parque Aventura & Trilho Ecológico, localizado em Ermesinde (Valongo) e Baguim do Monte (Gondomar). Nesta infraestrutura, recebemos mais de cinquenta mil visitantes todos os anos para explorar e desfrutar de espaços verdes enquanto aprendem sobre resíduos e biodiversidade.

PERSU 2020

A empresa sediada em Gondomar também atingiu todas as metas definidas no PERSU 2020. A LIPOR foi um dos dois únicos Sistemas de Gestão de Resíduos Urbanos (SGRU), num universo de 23 entidades, que cumpriram as metas nacionais fixadas pelo PERSU (Plano Estratégico para os Resíduos Sólidos Urbanos) para 2020, segundo o Relatório Anual de Resíduos Urbanos 2020, divulgado pela Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente.

O PERSU2020 definia como metas nacionais um valor de 35% (em peso) de preparação dos resíduos urbanos para reutilização e reciclagem; 10% de deposição dos resíduos urbanos biodegradáveis em aterro; 54 Kg por habitante de retoma de recolha seletiva. Para cada um destes items, a LIPOR, atingiu desempenhos de 36%, 2% e 58 Kg por habitante, respetivamente.

O critério sobre o desempenho dos SGRU dependeu de dois objetivos: o incremento do desvio de resíduos de aterro e o aumento do quantitativo de resíduos a enviar para reciclagem, o qual se alicerçou em investimentos no incremento da eficiência das instalações já em funcionamento e na otimização da gestão.

Releve-se, por isso, nesta síntese de resultados sobre o desempenho de cada SGRU em 2020, os apenas 2% (em peso) de deposição de Resíduos Urbanos em aterro conseguidos pela LIPOR, num total de mais de 523 mil toneladas de resíduos urbanos produzidos por cerca de 1 milhão de habitantes residentes nos 8 municípios associados da LIPOR (Espinho, Gondomar, Maia, Matosinhos, Porto, Póvoa de Varzim, Valongo e Vila do Conde).

Também no que respeita ao item do aumento do quantitativo de resíduos a enviar para reciclagem, a LIPOR cumpriu a meta definida no PERSU, com um valor de 36% (em peso) na preparação para reutilização e reciclagem, quando a meta definida era de 35%.

Por último, as retomas de recolha seletiva estabelecida como meta do PERSU os 54 Kg por habitante, tendo a LIPOR, segundo o Relatório Anual dos Resíduos Urbanos, conseguido superar essa meta e atingido os 58 Kg por habitante.
